How I gave up sugar Overnight

My morning coffee was usually dressed in a thin layer of cream and one splenda or sugar-free french vanilla.  Listen, I know splenda is awful for you so I decided to stop using it all together.  I moved on to just half & half with no sweetener and add 1 drop of essential oil for a fun flavor POP!

My Daily Skin Routine with easy DIY Recipes

If there is ONE thing I could go back and tell the younger me, it would be to take better care of my skin!

I have always been great about washing my face before bed and removing my makeup but where I lacked until I got older was maintenance.  Eye cream in my head was meant for older women – FALSE.  Sunscreen meant I didn’t want that sun kissed glow – FALSE.  Paying attention to what I put on my face was too time consuming because it was all the same with different labels and price tags – FALSE.

Now, my skin is one of my main focuses when it comes to my daily beauty routine.  Below I have shared with you my daily skin routine and the simple, inexpensive DIY Recipes so you too can make these great blends!

STEP 1: Wash Face – with Young Living Orange Blossom Facial Wash.  This little bottle is anything but small!  This face wash has been a game changer for my skin! It is invigorating and will last you a LONG time! You only need a teeny-tiny drop, think pea size.  A little goes a long way!   I use this both in the morning and at night.

Step 2: Apply Toner

Toner is a great way to remove dirt, oil and grime.  Toner also helps shrink pores and give your skin PH balance.  Our skin is naturally acidic, normally with a pH balance of between five and six. After cleansing, due to the alkaline nature of soap, the pH balance of skin gets disturbed. When this happens your skin needs to work overtime to restore the balance (and that may result in oil), but using a toner helps to restore this balance quickly.

Toner can do much much more!  Do your research and start using this amazing, refreshing recipe!  I highly recommended only using Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar which you can find in most grocery stores.  You can find the Rosemary and Tea Tree essential oils by visiting Young Living.

Step 3: Apply Eye Cream

This is advice I wish I would have known in my early 20’s! The skin around the eyes is more fragile, more prone to dryness, and quicker to show age and fatigue. Squinting and constant movement of the eyes also hasten the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and fluids collect under the eyes and cause puffiness and dark circles. Eye creams can address some of these issues.

I have fallen for Young Living’s Wolfberry Eye Cream.  It feel great on the skin and is loaded with some pretty amazing and naturally powerful ingredients! Wolfberry Eye Cream is a natural, water-based moisturizer. Containing the antiaging and skin-conditioning properties of wolfberry seed oil, this cream soothes tired eyes and minimizes the appearance of fine lines.

Step 4: Moisturize

Ladies and gentlemen … soft skin is good skin! Moisturized skin is sexy skin.  Did you know that it only takes 26 seconds for the things we put on our skin to be absorbed into our body!? 26 seconds! wow!  Makes you think about what you put on your body, doesn’t it? This is my favorite essential oil blend that I use both in the morning and at night.

On a daily basis it is VERY important to hydrate!!  You should be drinking water throughout the day.  This will help the appearance of your skin dramatically!

How much to drink daily can be a bit confusing. Here’s a little weight based formula to help you to figure out how much water you should be drinking daily.

  • Take your current weight and divide by two.
  • Take that number and drink that many ounces of water a day.
  • So if you weigh 130 pounds you should drink 65 ounces of water a day.

If you exercise for under an hour an extra glass or two of water should do the trick of replenishing fluids lost though sweating, but if you are exercising for over 60 minutes you will need more.

How disconnected are we really? When was the last time you made steady eye-contact with someone you love?

Overnight Oats with Essential Oils

I am a breakfast girl.  I have to eat within an hour of being awake or else I truly get hangry! I can go without coffee but not food!
overnight oatsOne of my favorite breakfasts is overnight oats.  They are super easy to make a head of time and the options are endless!

Even little ones like this yummy healthy breakfast!

1/2 cup milk of choice (I suggest vanilla soy or unsweetened almond milk)

1 tbsp nut butter (peanut butter or almond butter are my favorites)
2 tsp chia seeds
2tsp flax seeds
1/2 cup rolled oats (or steel cut oats)
1 drop Young Living Cinnamon Bark Vitality, essential oil

Toppings (optional)

Fresh Fruit (blueberries, banana, mango, apples, strawberries, etc.)
Granola
Nuts
Dried Cran-raisins

Instructions
  1. Place everything (aside from toppings) in a glass jar and stir together until well combined. Cover jar with foil or seal lid on container and let soak overnight.
  2. Before eating, top with fresh fruit, granola, nuts or your choice of toppings!

This is so easy to make and easy to make a few at a time to save you from the morning rush!  Get through the week, healthy!
